National Breast Cancer Awareness Month (NBCAM) is a great time of year to reach out to all our supporters who are making an impact in the fight against breast cancer. We greatly appreciate your support during NBCAM. Whether you read our stories about our friends who are living with metastatic breast cancer, spread awareness to friends and family or held your own fundraiser - we appreciate you for being More Than Pink®.
We want to challenge you to show your support and be More Than Pink® not just during National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, but all year long, because every 60 seconds, somewhere in the world, someone dies from breast cancer. This is why we must be more than cheerleaders. We must become change leaders. Leading change for greater funding, more research at the national level, and stronger support to better serve those in the breast cancer community. Together, we are strong, and together we can bring hope and support to those facing breast cancer.

New FDA Drug Approved to Treat Metastatic Breast Cancer
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) recently approved the drug abemaciclib (Verzenio) for the treatment of hormone receptor-positive, HER2-negative metastatic breast cancers that have progressed during past hormone therapy. Abemaciclib is a CDK4/6 inhibitor, which is a class of drugs designed to interrupt the growth of cancer cells. Abemaciclib can be combined with hormone therapy, but it can also be used alone. Study findings have shown abemaciclib alone or in combination with fulvestrant (a type of hormone therapy) gave women with hormone receptor-positive, HER2-negative metastatic breast cancer more time before the cancer spread compared to hormone therapy alone.
