Last month, we proudly announced the merger of the Susan G. Komen® Central Virginia and Tidewater Affiliates! The newly combined organization - Susan G. Komen® Central & Eastern Virginia – will maintain offices in Richmond and Norfolk and will provide services to over 80 cities and counties in central and eastern Virginia.

We are excited about the new opportunities this merger brings as we look to make an even bigger impact on breast cancer and breast health in our service are.

You may have heard, the MORE THAN PINK Walk™ is coming to Virginia Beach! Now is the time to register and take advantage of the early bird rate - $10 for adults - our lowest registration rate ever! This is the ONLY discount that will be offered this year.

This year's new, more interactive Walk Village will be in the 24th Street Park. The Walk will begin on Atlantic Avenue, turn toward the ocean, and come back up the boardwalk. It's going to be a beautiful day to enjoy time at the beach and support a great cause at the same time.

The Komen Virginia Beach MORE THAN PINK Walk is made possible by our incredible volunteers. These passionate individuals go beyond simply supporting our cause; they get out there and make this important fundraising event a success. Our volunteers truly are MORE THAN PINK.

Join us as a volunteer for our signature fundraising event! Show your passion for the breast cancer cause and take action. Prove that you too are MORE THAN PINK. We welcome any and all fun-loving, enthusiastic, hard-working, and reliable individuals who are willing to contribute to the success of this important event.

By volunteering, you’ll help make our event a success, which in turn will help us fund breast cancer research, education, screening, and treatment. Not only will you make an impact in the fight against breast cancer, you will also have fun, feel rewarded, and meet some truly incredible people—survivors, family members, allies, and more, all of whom have been impacted by this devastating disease.

We are proud to announce this year's Komen Central & Eastern Virginia Local Community Grantees! A total of $284,258 has been awarded to 11 organizations to fund programs that provide screening and diagnostics, transportation assistance, breast health/cancer education, case management, and patient navigation. Listed below are the grantees:

Since 1998, we have invested more than $11.7 million in education, diagnosis, treatment, and support programs here in our service area by funding local organizations that serve uninsured or underinsured residents in our community.

	Volunteer Orientation in Norfolk Join us for Komen Volunteer Orientation training and learn the basics about Susan G. Komen and the Central & Eastern Virginia Affiliate, how volunteers contribute to our success, and a Breast Cancer overview. Register for the August 1 session at 6 PM. 	Cruise for the Cure in Norfolk Sunday, September 15 Join us for a cruise on the Spirit of Norfolk where you will enjoy a great meal, dance the night away, and enjoy the spectacular views of the mighty ships of the Navy's Atlantic Fleet all while supporting a great cause. Thanks to Spirit Cruises, 100% of the revenue from the event will benefit Komen Central & Eastern Virginia. Reserve your seat today!
	Wacoal Fit for the Cure: September events Come in for a complimentary bra fitting. Wacoal will donate $2 to Susan G. Komen for every fitting, no purchase required. Wacoal will donate an additional $2 to Susan G. Komen for every Wacoal bra purchased at the event. 	Dixie Gas & Oil Corporation - Delivering for a Cure: For every gallon of propane dispensed from the specially painted tank trucks, Dixie Gas will donate one cent to Komen Central & Eastern Virginia. Since 2010, Dixie Gas & Oil has donated over $46,000 to Komen Central & Eastern Virginia.
	Melwood Charity Car Donation Center: Donate your used car, van, truck, boat with a trailer, or recreational vehicle to the Central & Eastern Virginia Affiliate of Susan G. Komen, seven days a week, 24 hours a day. It’s as easy as filling out our online donation form. Vehicles accepted in any condition! To date, Melwood Charity Car Donation Center has donated over $25,000 to Komen Central & Eastern Virginia.
	Kroger Community Rewards: Enroll in Kroger's Community Rewards' program, and your shopping can benefit Komen Central & Eastern Virginia. You can enroll your Kroger Plus Card in the program either online (at Kroger.com/communityrewards) or at the store (ask an employee to link your card the next time you're in the store). 	Bank of America Pink Ribbon Banking: Bank of America serves as the National Presenting Sponsor of the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure® and MORE THAN PINK Walk™ Series in the United States. Bank of America also supports Komen through its Pink Ribbon Banking Affinity products, which have raised over $8 million to date. Employees of Bank of America also support Komen across the country by volunteering in their local markets. Bank of America has been a Komen partner since 2009. 	Rally for the Cure®: Rally for the Cure is a grassroots program using golf, tennis and other social programs to raise more than $80 million for Komen-funded breast cancer research and local breast cancer community programs nationwide. As of 2017, management of the Rally program operates from Susan G. Komen®’s national headquarters, located in Dallas, TX.
	Wacoal Fit for the Cure®: Each year, Wacoal holds more than 1000 Fit for the Cure® events across the United States. At these events Wacoal offers complimentary bra fittings, and for each woman who participates Wacoal donates $2 to Susan G. Komen®. Wacoal also donates $2 for every Wacoal or b.tempt’d bra or shapewear piece purchased at a Fit for the Cure® event. As part of this Fit for the Cure program, together with other promotions conducted by Wacoal, Wacoal will donate an aggregate guaranteed minimum donation of $250,000 to Komen in 2019 to support Komen's National Treatment Assistance program and other local community health programs.
