Race for the Cure’s In Color station is the Teen Advisory Board’s annual, Race day station joining social media, compelling conversation, and bold Holi powder that participants wear in support of breast cancer awareness.
In 2014, the In Color station attracted over 1,000 race participants, thousands to the Affiliate’s social media outlets, and added fresh appeal to Komen’s chief fundraising event. Participants are drawn to the station by direct engagement with ‘colored’ volunteers and eye-catching signage, greeted by our welcome team, asked a few basic breast health questions, colored with vibrant powder down our color row, and photographed. These photos are then added to the Komen Central Virginia Facebook page in order to expand the Race for the Cure In Color experience beyond itself and create lasting memories.
In Color is not only an opportunity to engage another generation in the fight against breast cancer, but also offers teens an opportunity to serve their community in a meaningful way, develop and showcase leadership, and be part of a powerful movement in the search for the cures for breast cancer.
Race for the Cure In Color is free to Race participants. Check out the photos from the 2014 Race!
