2015 Race - everyday heroes banner

What are you doing on Saturday, May 9? We'll be celebrating our heroes at the 18th Annual Komen Central Virginia Race for the Cure®.

Every May, mothers, sisters, husbands, friends, co-workers, team captains, team members, doctors, fundraisers, sponsors, and volunteers assemble on Brown's Island to make an impact in our fight against breast cancer. They are our everyday heroes.

Race Day brings us something even more special. Our breast cancer survivors - our SUPERHEROES - assemble at the Race and celebrate their survivorship. There are smiles, tears, and lots of hugs. Their strength and unwavering willingness to survive even in the face of adversity is an inspiration to us all.

We invite you to be a hero and help us save lives. Strap on your cape and come celebrate with us on Saturday, May 9. You too can be a #KomenHero.

Pem Farewell

We are sad to say farewell this month to Pem Hall, Director of Community Health Programs. Pem joined Komen Central Virginia over eight and a half years ago as a part-time administrator. Since then, she has directed our Grants and Community Education programs while building strong collaborative relationships with other breast health service providers throughout the area. Pem has been an outstanding member of our team and will be greatly missed by our staff and volunteers. We wish her well in her new ventures.
