The 2019 Komen Virginia Beach MORE THAN PINK Walk™ is a little over a month away! Register TODAY!
Pink has taken us a long way. In the next phase of our journey, we will be MORE THAN PINK.
Here’s what that means... to get to our Bold Goal of reducing the
number of breast cancer deaths in the U.S. by 50% by 2026, we will focus
on our four mission pillars: Research, Care, Community, and Action.
If there were a fifth pillar, it would be our Walk participants. It would be you! Every single voice is an important part of our community.
So,
with a little more than a month to go, it’s time to take action! Every
participant counts. Every dollar counts. Register and tell your friends
and family why you are a part of the MORE THAN PINK Walk. Tell them what a difference we have made by working together. We'll see you at the Walk on Saturday, October 12!
We Need You! Volunteer with Komen CEVA
No more sitting on the sidelines. Take ACTION in the fight against breast cancer. October is almost here, which means our calendar is filling up with National Breast Cancer Awareness Month events.
Help support our vision of a world without breast cancer by volunteering for one of the following exciting opportunities. For a complete list of all events and volunteer opportunities, click here.

Did you know there is evidence that humans have been working to find a cure for breast cancer for as many as 5000 years? The oldest written description of breast cancer, although not recognized as the disease, was discovered in an ancient Egyptian trauma surgery textbook now called the Edwin Smith Papyrus, which dates back to approximately 3000 BC. It describes tumors or ulcers of the breast removed by cauterization with a surgical instrument called the fire drill. It states there is no treatment for the disease.
Mastectomy for breast cancer was performed as early as AD 548 and remained the standard of care in America until the 1970s when cancer began to be viewed as both a local and systemic illness and more sparing procedures were developed.
Please join us for the 2019 Pink Promise Luncheon, a celebration of survivorship and hope, at The Jefferson Hotel on Friday, October 4. Relax and enjoy visiting with one another at our Sips and Sparkle Reception from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM. Then, sit back and enjoy a delicious luncheon in The Jefferson's Grand Ballroom from noon to 1:30 PM as Surgical Oncologist, Dr. Richard Hoefer, takes us on a journey of The History of Breast Cancer and the evolution of breast cancer diagnosis, surgery, and treatment.
Tickets are $30 for breast cancer survivors and $45 for all other guests. Tables of 10 may be purchased for $400.
To purchase tickets or learn more, visit komenceva.org or call (804) 320-1772.
The Central & Eastern Virginia Affiliate of Susan G. Komen invites you to join us in our promise to end breast cancer forever by participating in our Worship in Pink program. Worship in Pink is a grassroots partnership with churches, synagogues, mosques, and other places of worship to open the lines of communication about breast health and promote breast cancer education. It is a day when you can celebrate and honor breast cancer survivors and co-survivors, support
and reach out to those currently going through treatment or
honor those whose battle with breast cancer has ended.
The Komen Central & Eastern Virginia Affiliate will provide you with ideas for your program, a suggested script for services, a sample bulletin announcement, and educational materials.
Please click here to fill out our online Worship in Pink registration form. Once this form is completed, you will receive an email with the Worship in Pink Toolkit and additional information about scheduling a Worship in Pink day at your place of worship.
